PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The hospitality attendant is the primary point of contact with guests on the Royal Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern or at RCPKC facilitated events including executive events. The position is multi-functional across a broad spectrum of service responsibilities, including but not limited to preparation of materials, housekeeping, food and beverage service, baggage handling and overall guest comfort. The primary work location for this position will be at CPKC Head Quarters in Calgary, Alberta.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Build memorable service experiences for all CPKC guests and customers, going above and beyond at every encounter
- Support a safe working environment by working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, OSA and federal health regulations
- Complete meeting room setups for events, such as serving, bussing, bar service, on-board train service, and cleaning
- Housekeeping, cleaning of bedrooms, washrooms, dining room, service areas, and common areas. Tasks include but are not limited to polishing, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows, washing dishes, minor repairs, making beds, cleaning silver, laundry services and stocking supplies
- Guest services. Respond to the multiple demands and needs of all guests resulting in service that goes above and beyond including coffee preparation and service, food service- from catering, to banquets to fine dining; meeting services and CPKC event support; bartending and wine service
- Baggage handling. Manage guest luggage transfers safely with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain a confidential record of CPKC executive and CPKC executive guest’s special requirements and preferences and ensure that these are accurately accommodated in all activities. Engage that knowledge to facilitate an outstanding experience
- Liaise with suppliers, purchasing department
- Administrative support for reservations of events, event planning; inventory logs, accounting cross charges and assisting with food ordering for events
- Additional duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years hospitality experience. Certificate in hospitality is an asset
- Able to perform all housekeeping duties including standing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, etc.
- Able to maintain accurate records and checklists
- Must be able to work shift work including weekends and holidays
- Experience with outstanding front of house customer service
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- The following must be attained prior to the start date
- ProServe and Food Safety certification or equivalent program is required
- Own transportation is required with valid class 5 Driver’s license
- Standard first aid, Level C CPR is required
- Mixology/Bartending and/or Fine dining and banquet experience is an asset
- Wine & Spirit knowledge is an asset

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
