The Opportunity - Athletics Head Coach, Men's & Women's Soccer/Futsal (part-time, contract)
Broncos Athletics at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is currently seeking a Head ACAC Men’s Soccer/Futsal Coach and a Head ACAC Women’s Soccer/Futsal Coach. As the Head ACAC Soccer/Futsal Coach, the incumbent will be responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of a varsity Soccer/Futsal program that excels both in the classroom, community and on the court.
Our intercollegiate teams have established a rich tradition of student-athlete success that ranks Olds College as among the finest intercollegiate programs both in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Because of this, we are confident that Olds College student-athletes develop life skills of teamwork, commitment, discipline and time management that are valued throughout their careers.
Key Job Functions
Student-Athlete Development and Support:
- Ensure the appropriate academic standards of the student-athletes are monitored and met.
- Effectively and efficiently analyze performance and provide constructive feedback to student-athletes.
- Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, strength and conditioning coach, support staff, administration, and faculty.
- Supervise student-athletes who are representing Olds College at ACAC, CCAA, and any exhibition competitions and ensure their adherence to the Athlete Code of Conduct.
Recruitment
- Maintain an active, focused recruiting plan including prospect and ID camps.
Leadership And Team Culture
- Lead the team to a common and cohesive goal and instill a desire to succeed and attain higher goals as a team and individual players.
Training And Competition Planning
- Design and implement a Yearly Training Plan, including but not limited to, practice planning, competition schedule, and team building.
Academic & Wellness Support
- Ensure the appropriate academic standards of the student-athletes are monitored and met.
- Promote and implement wellness initiatives for student-athletes.
Team Management And Operations
- Manage team operations as it relates to budget, fundraising, and community engagement.
- Support and act in accordance with the Broncos Athletics strategic plan and initiatives as they relate to: fundraising, sponsorship, general promotions, budget management, appropriate administrative responsibilities, and community and alumni relations.
Competition & Compliance
- Supervise student-athletes representing Olds College at ACAC, CCAA, and any exhibition competitions, ensuring adherence to the Athlete Code of Conduct.
- Lead the team to a common and cohesive goal, instilling a desire to succeed both as a team and as individual players.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Actively promote and reinforce practices that prioritize the well-being and security of all individuals at Olds College.
- Show a proactive attitude towards safety measures, continuously striving to enhance safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to instill a culture of shared responsibility and accountability for maintaining a safe and secure work setting.
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required
- Ideal candidates possess a diploma or certificate in physical education, sports management, or athletic therapy; equivalent education and experience may be considered. A post-secondary degree would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ of soccer/futsal coaching experience at the College, University, Provincial, National or Professional level, with a minimum of “in training” or full certification at NCCP Level 2. Provincial or National team player participation may be considered in lieu of coaching experience.
- Demonstrated success in player development, tactical execution, and program growth.
- Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and develop student-athletes while maintaining a commitment to academic success.
- Experience in budget management, fundraising, sponsorships, and community engagement.
- Enjoy and contribute to working in a team environment while displaying flexibility and ability to adapt.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adhere to a professional code of conduct that includes being approachable, maintaining a positive attitude, and being trustworthy.
- Champion and foster a positive and inclusive culture, promoting teamwork, collaboration and open communication within the team
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple partners (both internal and external) to achieve goals.

- Must be able to travel and willing to work flexible hours, primarily evenings and weekends.
