Position OverviewWorking collaboratively with teachers, administration, senior staff, community partners, referee associations, provincial sporting bodies and local media, the Athletic Coordinator (Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association/Limestone Elementary Schools Athletic Association Convenor) provides leadership and oversight for the planning and implementation of Athletics within the Limestone District School Board, including athletic teams from Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and French Language School Boards (CECCE and CEPEO). In this capacity, you will be responsible for establishing the framework, playing parameters as well as league and championship schedules, where applicable, for designated team sports, including determining, calculating and collecting team fees for each season, ensuring all expenditures are paid in a timely manner and overseeing annual budgets for athletic programs, in compliance with Board Administrative Procedures.
Qualifications & Experience- A post-secondary diploma in Sports Management, Event Management or related program and/or a combination of relevant education and a minimum of two years' experience coordinating / overseeing athletics required.
- Demonstrated experience planning, leading, and implementing organized athletics.
- Demonstrated project management skills to effectively plan multiple projects and events in a fast paced, fluid environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of diverse school communities in the Public, Catholic and French Catholic school systems.
- Proven leadership experience combined with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to oversee and coordinate staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving/conflict-resolution and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated planning and organization skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work week during peak sporting periods.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Access to reliable transportation/ability to travel throughout the district.
- Bilingual in French/English considered an asset.
- Athletic Director/Coaching experience considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience working with KASSAA, LESAA, EOSSAA and OFSAA considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and safety as it relates to student athletics.
