As ATB’s next Data Analyst Student for our Internal Assurance team, you will be responsible for supporting the Internal Assurance team’s strategic initiatives and you will experience first-hand how data informs assurance activities through the lens of systems and processes while also considering the accuracy and reliability of data.


Being actively involved in Data Science & Analytics, you will be exposed to a variety of strategic projects and initiatives that have a great positive impact on Internal Assurance and ATB Financial overall. The variety of work from analysis to automation, continuous monitoring, visualization etc. will result in a greater understanding of how data is used both in the banking industry and in providing assurance.

Accountabilities
  • Applying data collection methods and strategies to support the assurance and investigation processes, optimize departmental efficiency and support organizational data quality.
  • Contributing to the design of methods to extract and analyze large amounts of data and synthesize it into information, reporting, supporting documentation and insights for users and stakeholders.
  • Explaining complex analytics concepts in business and audit terms, coupled with the ability to extrapolate moderately complex business processes into technical concepts.
  • Performing data analytics processes and ad hoc initiatives as required to achieve the Internal Assurance operating plan.
  • Understanding assurance activities and support tests of automated controls as required, documenting results in accordance with professional and industry standards as requested.
  • Working in a high-pace agile-driven environment. Gain proficiency in agile project management operations to enable the team-driven approaches to work.
Skills, experience & requirements

Requirements for ATB 101:

  • Be passionate and motivated about pursuing a career in data science & analytics.
  • Enrollment in a post-secondary college or university Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent program.
  • Data, technology and storytelling is a big part of your life, like a really, really big part of your life.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Excel, Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform and Tableau.
  • Have a passion for data analytics and database management.
  • You say “this could be better” to yourself a lot.
  • Be able to effectively prioritize and manage your time well.
  • Have a strong sense of personal accountability. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and takes personal accountability to ensure that deliverables are of strong quality.
  • Eager to roll up your sleeves and take on new challenges.
  • Be humble and confident. We encourage you to put your hand up and ask for help, when needed. After all, we are all united in our goal of customer obsession.
  • An analytical mind, always seeking to learn more, dissect problems, and suggest solutions.
