Seeking a Learning Assistant Director/Manager (LM) on the Assurance Learning Team. The role oversees and manages the deployment, planning and delivery of service line curriculum. They are expected to be involved with cross service line learning and other key learning initiatives as they arise. This role promotes overall synergies with the firm’s learning strategies. They also manage a range of learning operations functions including learning administration, budgeting and client experience management. This role needs to effectively balance working very independently while applying a consultative approach to address business needs with the right team members on a regular basis.

This role works with and reports to the Assurance Learning Leader (ALL) and is responsible for deployment plans that forecast the number and location of classes/webcasts/eLearnings, identify target learners, outline communication needs, and source and assign instructors. This role is also responsible for the ongoing management of the deployment of these courses and will handle learner and stakeholder inquiries. This role has oversight over a group of supervising associates, learning specialists and coordinators.

A focus on adhering to controls and deploying learning within the firm’s policies is the foundation of this role. A successful candidate will have strong project management skills. Overtime may be required near project deadlines and if events are being coordinated.

The location of this position is open and being bilingual (English & French) is not mandatory but an asset.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across the Assurance practice, Talent, and Learning Teams to determine and deploy the learning calendar
  • Work with Assurance Learning Content team to produce course materials including translation, facilitator guides and SharePoint sites as required
  • Analyse course evaluations to determine recommended course revisions
  • Manage communications including newsletters, updates to broader team, townhall sessions, SharePoint site, monitor shared mailbox, etc.
  • Collaborate with other team members on the logistical planning of training events and off-site accommodations and management of on-site support staff
  • Supervise team members on the logistical planning and delivery of sessions, including monitoring workflows for timely completion and immediately addressing deviations
  • Oversight of the Learning Service Specialist (LSS) and Learning Coordinators (LC) in the deployment and compliance monitoring of all learning events, webcasts, and eLearning
  • Collaborate with Professional Practice, LMS Support Team, Experience Management, Talent Team, and CPA Team nationally on a routine basis
  • Work collaboratively with the Talent Development & Learning team to share best practices and achieve consistency in application of learning policies.
  • Sourcing and upskilling facilitators, including execution of facilitator quality controls, and managing facilitator recognition
  • Facilitator management, including fostering a good working relationship with the Local Assurance Leaders (LAL) across EY offices to find high performing facilitators as well as establishing and maintaining the relationship with said facilitators.
  • Create and maintain annual budget, including monthly accruals to optimize the learning investment for the firm.

Reporting and compliance

  • Work with compliance team to review the timely completion of level-based learning compliance databases, deadlines, and non-compliance communications, including year-end non-compliance performance reviews
  • Ensure adherence to established quality controls and documentation standards (ISQM1), completeness, and accuracy of reporting as it relates to deployment
  • Manage deployment of minimum baseline learning required by the Global practice.
  • Manage external vendor relationships to ensure contracts are compliant with EY Canada’s independence and risk management policies.

Knowledge and skills requirements:

  • Exceptional project management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in advanced capabilities of excel (filters, pivot tables, vlookups required). Power BI an asset
  • Proficient in MS Teams, Office 360 and SharePoint
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analysis, critical thinking and design skills and the ability to conceptualize and strategize business objectives, Able to exercise judgement in non-routine situations
  • Receives general direction rather than supervision. Work is reviewed for results achieved
  • Works well in teaming and collaborative environments. Positive, constructive, team-work attitude
  • Proven ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed team members, indirect team members, client serving personnel at higher staff levels and support staff

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $70,000 to $120,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
