Job Description

BIOVECTRA is recognized as a leader in the Contract Development and Manufacturing space of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients specializing in clinical to commercial scale production for microbial fermentation, synthetic small molecules including ADC, HPAPI, plasmid DNA, mRNA, LNP and sterile filling capabilities. With over 650 employees manufacturing at both the Windsor NS and Charlottetown PEI sites and supporting over 18/20 top pharma and biotech companies and 100+ active clients. BIOVECTRA partners with biopharma and pharmaceutical companies to support the development of clinical or commercial API needs.

Reporting to the VP Business Unit BIOVECTRA, the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Product Development at BIOVECTRA will lead BIOVECTRA’s product development initiatives, overseeing the progression from early-stage research through to commercial readiness. This role requires strategic leadership to drive innovation, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver high-quality pharmaceutical products that meet client and patient needs.

This position will oversee the execution of product development / research efforts across BIOVECTRA’s portfolio of development stage product candidates. The AVP PD will implement systems that insure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. The AVP PD will ensure that products and processes are developed in a qualified state such that they are compliant with cGMP, ICH, and FDA guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement product development / technology strategies aligned with company goals and client requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with departments such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing to ensure seamless introduction of technologies and product development processes. Working with the disciplines within the BIOVECTRA Leadership Team to align pipeline development, portfolio products and technology plans, goals, and future product innovations with the firm’s strategic growth plans. Support AMPD initiatives between NASD and BIOVECTRA to advance technologies and support growth.

  • Process Equipment: Working with engineering / manufacturing in the selection and design of process equipment required to carry out biological and chemical pipeline processes and their transition to commercial stages.

  • Innovation and Technology Integration: Identify and incorporate emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance BIOVECTRA advances in difficult to make modalities in the CDMO industry.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines.

  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing product development and research team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

  • Client Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact for clients during the product development lifecycle, ensuring transparency and satisfaction.

  • P&L Responsibilities: Overseeing all aspects of the business unit, including full profit and loss responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Education: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in pharmaceutical product development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience in developing complex pharmaceutical products, including biologics and small molecules.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards in pharmaceutical development.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule.The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $207,090.00 - $323,578.00/yr CAD plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
