This new division aims to align advanced manufacturing capabilities, expertise, and resources to foster greater innovation and operational excellence.

Biovectra is a leader in Contract Development and Manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, specializing in clinical to commercial scale production of microbial fermentation, synthetic small molecules including ADC, HPAPI, plasmid DNA, mRNA, LNP, and sterile filling. With over 650 employees at sites in Windsor NS and Charlottetown PEI, supporting top pharma and biotech clients, Biovectra partners with biopharma and pharmaceutical companies to develop API needs.

Reporting to the VP Business Unit Biovectra, the AVP of Engineering and Maintenance oversees strategic and operational aspects of engineering and maintenance for 8 facilities in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, ensuring facility and equipment reliability, efficiency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies, overseeing 7 managers and 100 support staff, focusing on process and utility equipment.
  • Operational Excellence : Ensure reliable performance of equipment, minimize downtime, and optimize plant performance.
  • Project Management : Oversee capital projects, renovations, and upgrades, ensuring timely, on-budget completion with regular progress reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure GMP adherence, documentation, change controls, and training; represent departments during audits.
  • Team Development : Foster teamwork and performance, providing leadership and development for staff.
  • Communication : Engage effectively with senior executives and peers, influencing and maintaining confidence.
  • Operations Technology : Manage manufacturing technology teams, collaborating with IT on program direction and equipment needs.
  • Equipment Commissioning and Qualification : Oversee manufacturing equipment commissioning, qualification, and requalification.

This is an onsite role based at our Prince Edward Island or Windsor, Nova Scotia site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related; advanced degrees or certifications (PE, CFM, CHFM, LEED AP) preferred.
  • 10+ years in facilities management with 5+ years in leadership within life sciences, medical, pharmaceutical, or research facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of building operations, distribution systems, steam & chilled water plants, and commissioning / qualification of building systems.

Preferred Attributes

  • Technical proficiency with BMS systems; healthcare facility experience preferred.
  • Innovation and sustainability mindset, familiarity with LEED standards, new tech in mechanical systems, and utilities.
