Job description

A career as an Associate Vice President, Business Development with the Calgary Commercial Banking Team at CWB, a part of the National Bank, offers you the opportunity to lead and achieve strategic business development objectives to build and maintain a high-value portfolio of large, diversified commercial clients. This role allows you to positively impact the organization through relationship building skills, financial acumen, and commercial lending knowledge.

Your Job

  1. Implement an independent marketing plan to achieve targeted business growth, focusing on larger mid-market commercial clients ($10MM+ loan and deposit volume), including independent sales activities.
  2. Build a relationship strategy for each client, identifying key issues and implementing strategies to expand partnerships.
  3. Apply skills in financial statement analysis and risk mitigation strategies for credit underwriting.
  4. Manage risk-reward parameters within acceptable levels to achieve efficient business performance.
  5. Maintain extensive knowledge of clients, prospects, market conditions, competition, and economic factors, along with understanding key business issues and trends.

Basic Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, commerce, finance, or accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business banking, mid-market commercial lending ($10MM+), and business development.
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful sales strategies.
