Role Overview

As the Associate Trust Officer, you will provide estate, trust, and agency administration services to clients and beneficiaries, ensuring service quality, adherence to policies, and compliance with legislation. You will manage your designated accounts and support larger, complex accounts as backup to the Senior Trust Officer.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver personalized account administration, maintaining effective communication with clients, beneficiaries, advisors, and co-trustees.
  2. Ensure compliance with policies and standards to mitigate risk, including documentation and oversight of account activities.
  3. Authorize and review accurate accounting entries, monitor cash positions, and take corrective actions as needed.
  4. Prepare and approve fee calculations, obtain necessary approvals, and forecast fee collections.
  5. Serve as the Primary Relationship Manager (PRM) for designated clients, utilizing the Financial Planning process to understand client needs and coordinate with the Team of Experts.
  6. Promote effective team operations aligned with Scotiabank’s values and risk management standards.
  7. Collaborate with the client’s PRM to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course
  • University Degree or equivalent experience
  • Progress towards Trust Institute designation/diploma
  • Strong knowledge of Trust Accounting Principles and Systems
  • Familiarity with Personal Trust Policies and Wealth Management offerings
  • Understanding of Financial Planning processes and tools
