GENERAL FUNCTION

You will carry out mounting, blocking and some edging tasks as main activities in this role. You must be autonomous, with team-work abilities and good observational and manual skills. You will act as a multitasked technician that must be versatile and can execute all basic activities in an edging and mounting department.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday (evening shift) but may be subject to change depending on operational and business needs, potentially requiring employees to work weekends and holidays as well.

You may need to work different hours in the beginning for training purposes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform the reception, sorting, tray up and tray out of the lenses and frames
  • Read a work ticket and prescription of an order and assign to the proper workstation/service
  • Tracing of lenses
  • Blocking, readying uncut lenses for the edging process by outlining the center/alignment markings and affixing the chuck/block
  • Edging and specialty orders, using variety of edging machines to cut lenses down to proper size and shape to fit the appropriate frame
  • Mounting, inserting edged lenses to ensure proper fit and alignment, and inserting lenses into the frame while ensuring proper fit
  • Inspection, checking lenses and frames to ensure quality standards are met
  • Utilizing the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of the lens
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Job experience will be considered in place of High school diploma or GED
  • Proficient in English (ability to read, write and speak fluently)
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
  • The ability to meet measurable standards in a dynamic production environment Depth perception, use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity
