Job summary

SOTI Inc in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking an Associate Software Developer in Test to join our hybrid, collaborative team. You will contribute to reliable, scalable test automation and work across the product lifecycle with a balanced automated/manual approach.

We value developers who have a strong foundation in object-oriented languages, QA fundamentals, and hands-on automation with Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools, plus experience testing mobile apps and REST APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience as SDET or Software Development Engineer in Test.
• Proficient in Java, C#, or JavaScript.
• Solid QA fundamentals and test design techniques.
• Experience with automated testing tools (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Cucumber, or TestNG).
• Experience automating Android and iOS apps.
• Experience testing frontend or backend apps; Angular and C# exposure is a plus.
• REST API testing and SQL Server experience.
• Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Agile development experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and maintenance of test automation frameworks.
• Perform automated and manual testing across the product lifecycle with a 50/50 split.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to understand requirements and create test scenarios.
• Write and maintain automated tests for functionality, regression, performance, and reliability.
• Investigate test failures, document defects clearly, support root-cause analysis, and verify fixes.
• Help develop tools and utilities that improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and reliability.
• Maintain high standards for test code, technical documentation, and delivery quality.
• Communicate testing progress, risks, and quality findings clearly and promptly to the team.
• Learn and apply best practices in test design, code quality, continuous testing, and Agile delivery.

What You’ll Do

Experience You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience as Software Development Engineer or (SDET) Software Development Engineer in Test role
• Working knowledge of Java, .NET/C#, JavaScript, or another object-oriented programming language.
• Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, test design techniques, defect management, and QA processes.
• Working experience with at least one automation tool or framework, such as Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Appium, Cucumber, or TestNG.
• Working experience automating Android and iOS applications.
• Experience testing frontend or backend applications; exposure to Angular and C# is an asset.
• Experience with RESTful API testing and databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• Good analytical, debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn, with a strong interest in quality and test automation.
• Experience working with Agile software development practices.

Nice To Have

• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with Git and development tools such as Visual Studio or IntelliJ IDEA.
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience creating, configuring, or testing with virtual machines.
