Associate/Senior Associate – Transaction Services (Toronto)

BDO is hiring a dynamic professional to join the Deal Advisory team in Toronto. The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market, industry, and company research.
• Evaluate a business’s historical performance and financial projections.
• Understand key accounting policies and management control environments.
• Perform in‑depth financial analyses, including assessing sustainability of earnings and cash flows, operating working capital, quality of assets, and key drivers of financial performance (revenues, margins, operating expenses, etc.).
• Interpret analyses and assist in preparing detailed buy‑side and sell‑side due diligence reports.
• Undertake smaller assignments or assist on larger assignments reporting to a manager, senior manager, or partner.
• Support business development initiatives, including pitches and proposals.
• Communicate directly with transaction counterparties (client, target, buyers, advisors, lenders).
• Contribute to effective team collaboration and morale.
• Occasionally support other BDO business units in cross‑functional roles (e.g., Valuations, M&A, Commercial Due Diligence, Restructuring).

Qualifications

• Existing CPA designation; pursuit of CBV or CFA considered an asset.
• 2-3 years of professional experience, with at least 1 year in transaction services considered an asset.
• Highly motivated, autonomous, and able to work under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, business acumen, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Skilled in building networks and effective working relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); knowledge of VBA, macros, Power Pivot, Power Query, and Power BI is an asset.

Compensation

Expected range: $57,000 - $104,000 (annual).
