  • Basic programming skills in Python are an asset.
  • Candidates should demonstrate aptitude for research and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide user support to general users, beamteam members, fee-for-service clients, and CLS staff.
  • Beamline and endstation setup.
  • Assist with sample preparation and train users on beamline operation.
  • Support users during evenings/weekends per CLS procedures.
  • Perform measurements and data analysis.
  • Supervise and support users to perform experiments safely and effectively.
  • Analyse and solve beamline or technical problems; develop recommendations.
  • Assist beamline maintenance and upgrade projects.
  • Develop technical expertise in beamline operation and instrumentation including software.
  • Prepare beamline documentation and manuals.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • - For the Associate Scientist level, a relevant undergraduate or Masters degree is required. For the Scientist level, a relevant Masters degree or Ph.D. in the physical sciences or engineering is required.
  • - A minimum of two years of directly related experience with a Masters degree, or a minimum of one year of related experience with a Ph.D. degree.
  • - Experience with Infrared spectroscopic techniques is required.
  • - Experience using microscopes, laser-based systems, advanced instrument development, and optics would be strong assets.
  • - Basic programming skills in Python is an asset.
  • - Candidates should demonstrate a clear aptitude for research, particularly in scientific programs requiring collaboration.
