Associate Sales, Fixed Income and Derivatives

Mandate

As a member of the Fixed Income and Derivatives team, the Associate reports to the Head of Fixed Income, Commodity and Currencies, Institutional Sales in Montreal. The role involves providing clients with coverage, including research and sales / trading merchandise, maximizing profit while minimizing risk, and supporting the team in client business activities.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge :

• Four-year degree in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, CFA, or Master’s degree is a plus.
• 2-5 years of industry-related experience.
• Working knowledge of financial markets, trading, and analysis.
• Understanding of trading, sales procedures, and regulatory concepts.

Skills :

• Strong sales, interpersonal, and analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and judgment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Bloomberg, Reuters, and market data tools.

Key Accountabilities

Client Support & Relationship Management :

• Provide liquidity, quotes, and market info to clients.
• Support sales with trading strategies and client presentations.
• Develop relationships to increase market activity.

Transaction Management :

• Assist in operational issues, proposals, and transaction accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with regulations.
• Manage the bank’s exposure within set limits.
• Develop hedging and trading strategies to mitigate risk.

Marketing Knowledge :

• Develop market knowledge and interpret financial reports.
• Use analytical skills to define problems and draw conclusions.

Authorities

Provides sales / trading suggestions, access to confidential info, and authority to stop actions for compliance reasons.

The salary range is CAD $110,000 to $120,000, with potential bonuses and benefits.
