The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at The University of British Columbia (UBC), in partnership with BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW), invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor (grant tenure). The successful candidate will hold the Professorship in Midlife and Mature Women’s Health supported by BCW, subject to university approvals.
The UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has training programs at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to advance knowledge and translate it into practice to improve health. The Department consists of over 300 physicians and scientists, along with more than 50 administrative, research, and technical staff. Specialty training programs include gynaecologic oncology, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and advanced training in endometriosis, pelvic pain, laparoscopic surgery, family planning, vulvovaginal health, female pelvic medicine, and reproductive infectious diseases.
BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in BC dedicated primarily to women’s health, providing a broad range of specialized services. It recently launched a program focused on midlife and mature women’s health, including a complex menopause clinic, aiming to develop evidence-based management strategies for this underserved population. This role offers opportunities for teaching and research development in this area, emphasizing patient/public engagement and knowledge translation.
BCW provides surgical services, specialized ambulatory clinics, and is a major maternity facility in Canada, with about 7,200 births annually. It is a key provider of maternity services in BC’s Lower Mainland and part of the provincial tertiary care system. As an academic health centre, BCW leads in research through the BC Women’s Research Institute and collaborates with UBC for education and professional development. Its mission is to improve health outcomes for women, newborns, and families through comprehensive services, research, and education.
Reporting to the Head of UBC’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and BCW Site Head, the successful candidate will be an accomplished clinician-scientist capable of leading interdisciplinary, population-based, patient-oriented research in mid-life women’s health and menopause at BCW. The role involves designing and executing research programs focused on reproductive aging, menopause, hormone therapy, and quality of life, with an emphasis on impact and policy influence. The candidate will also participate in teaching, mentorship, and service activities, collaborating with the Women’s Health Research Institute and the Faculty of Medicine’s Academy of Translational Medicine.
Qualifications include an MD, RCPSC or equivalent fellowship, eligibility for licensure in BC, demonstrated teaching and research success, and leadership in women’s health research. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential.
UBC offers a competitive salary, benefits, pension, and career development resources. Interested candidates should apply online at: https://ubc.wd10.myworkdayjobs.com/ubcfacultyjobs, including a cover letter, CV, and references, along with a statement on contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Review of applications begins on July 1, 2025, with an expected start date of September 1, 2025, or mutually agreed thereafter. For questions, contact Lygia Siqueira at lsiqueira@providencehealth.bc.ca with the subject line: Professorship in Midlife and Mature Women’s Health.
This position is located within a health-care facility. UBC is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from marginalized groups and providing accommodations upon request.
