Associate Production Artist

Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. The Associate Production Artist takes from a designer a comprehensive (aka "comp"), better known as a "comp," and creates a complete digital file or combination of files that's problem-free when sent for production. The Associate Production Artist converts and translates customer submitted artwork into a press compatible format while maintaining an effective and efficient workflow. The Associate Production Artist maintains direct and open communication with internal teams and clients to ensure the final art meets the clients and printers needs.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Work on CPG client jobs creating production art, line extensions and prepping jobs for assembly
  • Manipulate customer artwork so printed materials can be produced according to the production requirements
  • Output production proofs depicting final layout for customer approval
  • Design all files according to the requirements of the press it will run on
  • Make independent judgment in graphic assembly of working art files; analyzing needs and product requirements to create a final press-ready file
  • Maintain an effective comprehension of calibration, profiling and workflow procedures
  • Proofread all work including customer proofs and final files
Qualifications Include:
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills
  • 1-2 years experience in packaging graphics, design and/or prepress
  • Consumer product company knowledge or experience
  • Graphics production technology background or experience, a plus
  • Strong knowledge of consumer products packaging, creative design, production artwork and print services preferred
  • Deep understanding of major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset)
  • Proficient use of Apple operating systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro and Acrobat)
