Job summary

Torn Banner Studios is a Toronto, Canada-based independent game development studio founded in 2010. We first made our mark with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a multi-million copy selling title that redefined melee combat in gaming. Since then, we've continued to grow and innovate, releasing Chivalry 2 and, most recently, No More Room in Hell 2. Today, our team of around 100 developers is dedicated to creating unique, challenging, and fun gaming experiences.

The Role

As an Associate Producer, you will support the Production, Technical, and Design teams across a wide range of tasks throughout the game development lifecycle. You will help coordinate day-to-day development activities, track priorities and deliverables, identify and resolve production challenges, and facilitate communication between disciplines.

A key part of the role will be supporting technical production by working closely with our programmers and technical team. You will help coordinate technical priorities, track programming tasks and dependencies, identify potential risks or blockers, and ensure that technical work is aligned with the project's production goals, scope, and schedule.

Location

While this role can be carried out remotely, candidates are required to be current Ontario residents.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Production, Technical, and Design teams throughout the game development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with programmers and technical team members to coordinate technical tasks, priorities, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Help track and communicate technical risks, blockers, and dependencies that may impact production schedules or project scope.
  • Facilitate communication between disciplines
  • Assist in defining project scope, schedules, and priorities.
  • Maintain and track project plans, tasks, dependencies, and deliverables using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and spreadsheets.
  • Help coordinate day-to-day development activities and ensure issues are identified, communicated, and followed through to resolution.
  • Assist with sprint planning, task prioritization, milestone planning, and production reviews.
  • Support the teams in identifying, prioritizing, and tracking issues.
  • Proactively identify production challenges and work with relevant team members to develop solutions.
  • Help improve production processes and adapt workflows to meet the evolving needs of the team and project.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, transparent, and well-organized development environment.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in the games industry.
  • At least 1 shipped game.
  • Experience with production and project-management tools such as Jira, Confluence and Miro
  • Strong understanding of the game development lifecycle, production practices, and game development technology.
  • Familiarity with technical game development processes and the role of programming within game production.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts sufficiently to support collaboration between production and engineering/programming teams.
  • Ability to assist in defining project scope, schedules, milestones, and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • An understanding and passion for video games.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and adapt them to the team's needs.
Bonus
  • Experience taking a game or project from prototype through launch.
  • Experience working directly with programming or technical development teams.
  • Familiarity with technical production, software development workflows, or Agile/Scrum methodologies

Compensation
  • The pay range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000 per year. The range for this role represents candidates across a wide range of skills and experience for the position. Increased salaries may be achievable for those who have achieved mastery and deep industry knowledge over time. Your specific offer will rely on your unique experience and alignment to our team's needs for the position.
