Job summary

Introba is seeking an Associate Principal for the Toronto Mechanical Institutional team. You will lead a project design team on complex institutional projects, including healthcare sectors, ensuring staffing, task distribution, and high-quality designs aligned with clients’ needs.

You will mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and contribute to business growth while upholding LEED and sustainability standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years design experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems.
• Experience leading healthcare projects and mentoring staff.
• Proven ability to respond to RFPs and write business cases.
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering; professional engineer designation preferred; LEED accreditation desired.

They are fully responsible and accountable for their design team staff, regularly review staffing and distribute tasks effectively and consistently with staff skillsets. By providing technical support and management resources, the Associate ensures that design decision-making and team management accountability take place.The Toronto Mechanical Institutional team is looking for a keen individual to continue the growth and lead the execution of some of the recently awarded projects. The institutional projects range in scale and complexity, from smaller Functional Programming and Business Case scopes to major renovations and additions.Responsibilities & QualificationsDuties and Responsibilities:Leads a team, ensuring members receive adequate training, support and development opportunitiesAccountable for ensuring appropriate utilization, workload planning and forecastingImplements programs to improve the quality of service, products, and systems to meet clients' requirements, minimize costs, and maximize the firm’s competitive positionPromote quality issues with all team members and ensure that the quality control function is effectively performed and embedded as a standard in the teamAssure adequate field review services are provided to ensure adherence of contract documentsAct as the firm representative and maintain good relationships with clients, project stakeholders, associations, government bodies and other entitiesIs an active role model for team and office culture and promotes an inclusive workplaceBuilds and manages their own key clients and monitors key pursuits/opportunitiesContributes to GO/NO-GO decisions with the mindset of growing the businessMonitors and assists with keeping team performance at or above the annual planIs a discipline lead on projects with minimal peer/technical support requiredSkills and Qualifications:10+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Control systemsExperience leading and designing healthcare projectsHas led a team or mentored junior/intermediate staff membersExperience responding to RFPs and writing Business CasesUniversity degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PEng)LEED Accredited professional designation or other relevant rating or performance system is desiredAdditional InformationIntroba is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $140,800 - $176,000 annually for this position and local market.
