We are seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager/ Portfolio Analyst to join our Toronto location on a hybrid working model. This role represents a unique and exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a team that invests across a broad global mix of private market products including private equity, real estate, private credit and infrastructure. The Harbourfront Portfolio Management team employs a holistic approach to its alpha-generating strategies, applying both quantitative and fundamental techniques.
You will be responsible for:
- Support our PMs on in-depth research and due diligence on third-party private market strategies for potential inclusion on Harbourfront’s investment platform. Conduct detailed quantitative analysis on 3rd party holdings and performance measures to identify key risk factors of individual strategies.
- Assist with reconciliation and rebalancing of portfolios, ensuring accuracy and alignment with investment objectives.
- Assist with portfolio management functions and trading in relation to affiliated IFM fund offerings.
- Liaise with fund accountants, service providers, and third-party fund companies to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Use research software and tools (e.g., Morningstar or similar) to gather data and perform analyses on existing and prospective investments.
- Provide general support to the Portfolio Manager in ongoing monitoring of market conditions, preparation of investment memos, and ad-hoc research projects.
- Build and maintain processes to improve operational efficiency of pool fund vehicles.
- Collaborate with the Office of the CIO on special projects.
The ideal candidate for this position has:
- Completion of CFA Level I (Level II/III candidates are also welcome).
- Currently registered, or able to become registered as a Portfolio Manager with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO)
- An undergraduate degree in a related field (Finance, Economics, Business, etc.).
- Approx. 5 years of industry experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other MS Office applications is an asset.
- Experience with research software and tools such as Morningstar or comparable platforms.
- Familiarity with trading and reporting software (e.g., Croesus, Netrep) is a plus.
- Effective organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
