What is the opportunity?

RBC PH&N Investment Counsel (“RBC PH&N IC”) is one of Canada’s leading boutique investment counselling firms with investment professionals nationwide acting exclusively for high-net-worth clients and small business owners. We provide clients with discretionary investment management and privileged access to the expertise of our RBC Wealth Management Services team, which includes highly accredited lawyers, accountants, and financial planning specialists.

As an Associate Portfolio Manager, you will be a key member of a professional team responsible for building and managing a high-performance investment counselling franchise. You will work with experienced Investment Counsellors to construct customized investment strategies for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and charitable foundations.

What will you do?

  • Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve client inquiries, providing Investment Counsellors with recommendations for complex situations.
  • Attend client meetings as required, including prospect and annual review meetings.
  • Maintain timely written, verbal, and electronic communication with support groups internally and with external contacts.
  • Assist in implementing action plans and proactively manage client portfolios to ensure optimal performance and service results.
  • Monitor and rebalance portfolios to ensure they align with current Investment Policy Statements and risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to team objectives by retaining and growing high-net-worth clients.
  • Assist in developing client profiles, including next steps to increase and solidify relationships.
  • Input trades, address compliance requirements, and ensure all account documentation is completed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University Degree in Economics, Business, or related field
  • CFA Designation (Chartered Financial Analyst)
  • Minimum 3 years of portfolio management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of investment industry experience
  • Strong individual contributor skills and team support abilities

Nice-to-have

  • CFP Designation (Certified Financial Planner)
  • Marketing or Sales background
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Fluency in English and French
