The Calgary Hospital Medicine Service is the largest acute care medical service in the region, operating under the Section of Medical Inpatients within the Department of Family Medicine. We provide comprehensive hospital-based care to approximately 1,000 medical inpatients daily across four acute care sites in the Calgary Corridor. Our team of dedicated family physicians delivers high-quality, patient-centered care focused on timely assessment, evidence-informed treatment, and safe transitions of care. We are responsible for the admission, daily management, and discharge of adult patients requiring inpatient medical care who do not require a specialty admitting service. The Section of Medical Inpatients plays a vital role in supporting acute care capacity and enhancing the overall patient experience within Calgary’s health system through a strong commitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and compassionate service.
