Job description

As the Associate Manager of Privacy, Data, and Controls, you will be responsible for ensuring that the first line of defense complies with data protection regulations and maintains the highest standards of data privacy. As a member of the Strategy, Governance and Controls team you will monitor and assess controls that protect sensitive information. This role requires an understanding of privacy laws.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Audits and Assessments: Monitor and test to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and internal policies.

  • Data Protection: monitor processes and controls to endure the protection of sensitive data, including personal and financial information.

  • Risk Management: Identify and assess privacy and data security risks across the organization.

  • Training and Awareness: provide guidance and training staff on privacy and data protection.

  • Privacy Incident Response: participate in privacy incident management and collaborate with Privacy & Legal Counsel on legislative updates.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal, IT, and compliance teams, to address privacy and data security issues.

  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation of all privacy and data incidents.

  • Prepare and present privacy reports to senior management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CISSP) is preferred.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in data privacy, data protection, or information security roles.

  • Knowledge: knowledge of Canada data privacy laws and regulations.

  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead manage projects and drive organizational change.

  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.

Salary range is expected to be between

$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CAD
