Job summary

MDW Family Law seeks an Associate Family Lawyer who is passionate about helping clients, values collaboration, and delivers exceptional service. Qualifications

  • Approximately 3–7 years of legal experience.
  • Family law experience preferred but not required.
  • Membership in good standing with the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, or eligibility to become a member.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional, client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and advance client files with appropriate guidance and support.
  • Meet with clients to provide legal advice and move matters forward.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and court materials.
  • Attend court appearances and other legal proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering exceptional service.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm.

What We’re Looking For
You will ideally have:
  • Approximately 3–7 years of legal experience
  • Family law experience (preferred, but not required)
