Job description

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experiencedCommercial Litigation Lawyerwith a strong focus onbankruptcy and insolvencymatters to join our dynamic litigation team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in bankruptcy law and a proven ability to handle sophisticated commercial disputes arising from corporate restructurings, insolvency proceedings, and creditors’ rights litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in complex commercial litigation matters, including bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency-related disputes.
  • Advise secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, monitors, trustees, and other stakeholders in CCAA and BIA proceedings.
  • Appear before all levels of Ontario courts and administrative tribunals, with a focus on commercial and insolvency-related matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, motion materials, settlement agreements, and related legal documentation.
  • Collaborate with partners and multidisciplinary teams on large-scale files and cross-border insolvency matters.
  • Maintain and build strong client relationships through exceptional service and strategic legal advice.
  • Stay current on legal developments in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and restructuring law.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. or LL.B. and good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 4–8 years of post-call experience with a strong emphasis on commercial litigation and bankruptcy/insolvency law.
  • Demonstrated experience working on complex CCAA proceedings and related commercial disputes.
  • Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, legal research, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • A team player with a client-focused mindset and business acumen.
