Qualifications

• Strong litigation skills, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and preparing for hearings and trials.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in insurance law, civil litigation, or related practice areas.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
• Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in assessing evidence and legal issues.
• Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and correspondence for insurance disputes.
• Manage files under supervision of senior counsel and prepare briefs and memoranda.

Role Description

The Associate Lawyer will handle a variety of litigation tasks related to insurance disputes, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence, and preparing briefs and memoranda. The role involves managing files under the guidance of senior counsel, attending client meetings, conducting examinations for discovery, and participating in settlement discussions. The Associate Lawyer will also appear in court and before tribunals as needed, support trial preparation, and collaborate closely with colleagues to develop case strategies. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, requiring regular in-person interaction with the legal team and clients.
