IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Associate to join our team!

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Risk Research and Analytics, the Associate will work within a dynamic team and be responsible for research related to the effective modeling, interpretation, and execution of investment risk, as well as preparing risk reporting and analytics for IMCO’s internal partners and external stakeholders. We seek an investment risk professional with a solid foundation of investment risk principles and research techniques supporting investment strategy development.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:

  • Research and assess portfolio-related investment risks on private market transactions (private equity, infrastructure, real estate, private credit), including sector/region concentrations, idiosyncratic risk, and stress testing.
  • Support back testing for investment validation and policy review, including strategy benchmark testing.
  • Conduct risk research on new asset classes, instrument types, stress testing, credit risk, liquidity risk, and Asset and Liability Management (ALM).
  • Collaborate with Investment teams to ensure relevance of risk research and modeling techniques, integrating risk into investment decisions.
  • Monitor investment compliance and policy restrictions, with escalation protocols for remedial actions.
  • Develop and maintain investment risk dashboards for monitoring analytics and decision-making.
  • Work with Risk Support to enhance front-office risk analytics and reporting.
  • Research portfolio risk disaggregation and forecasting, ensuring methodologies are portable across plans/clients.
  • Prototype new risk management analytics, methodologies, and reporting solutions.
  • Perform data reasonability checks and resolve data issues.
  • Support private market operations, testing, and implementing new risk modeling methodologies.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, finance, or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment risk research, analysis, and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, and database tools.
  • Portfolio and risk modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Matlab, VBA, SAS, C++, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of investment risk and portfolio management theories.
  • Experience with diverse asset classes and their impact on portfolio risk, including market conventions and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent thinking skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of reporting complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of private markets, stress testing, and ALM is strongly preferred.
