Job Overview

Burkett Asset Management is seeking an Associate Investment Counsellor to join its growing team.In this role, you will be a member of a collaborative and client-focused team requiring exceptional communication skills, proficiency with technology and high attention to detail.

The Associate Investment Counsellor will support the day-to-day management of client portfolios, take part in client meetings, and help evolve the Client Service team. This is a role designed for individuals who are detail-oriented, analytically sharp, and committed to delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Portfolio Manager in servicing client relationships, including handling information requests from clients, consultants, and advisors
  • Maintain and update client data, including personal details, account modeling, and performance tracking
  • Prepare and review materials for client meetings, ensuring KYC documentation is up to date and meetings are booked in advance
  • Contribute to the development and execution of customized investment proposals, quarterly reports, and presentation materials
  • Manage client portfolios within defined mandates, risk tolerances, and firm investment philosophy
  • Assist with onboarding and transitioning new client accounts in coordination with the Client Service team
  • Participate in monthly Investment Committee meetings and support long-term strategy development
  • Help identify and implement business development opportunities and represent the firm in the professional community
  • Ensure all client and investment activities align with internal compliance standards and policies

Job Requirements

A career in Investment Management is challenging and fast-paced. A high regard for accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following requirements :

  • Eligibility for registration as an Advising or Associate Advising Representative by end of year one
  • Canadian Securities Course considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with D1g1t, Wealthbox, and Bloomberg is a plus
  • Relationship management skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with employees, clients, and professional contacts
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proactive, innovative, and continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes
  • Understanding of professional financial planning, investment regulations, and portfolio management best practices
  • Professional ethics and integrity second to none
  • Job Type & Location

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday), on-site
  • Victoria, BC : reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Must be willing to work to meet seasonal / peak workloads and deadlines when required
  • Competitive salary ($90,000 - $120,000) plus bonus
