Job summary

Mackenzie Investments is seeking a full-time Associate Investment Analyst to join the Multi-Asset Strategies team. You will support daily portfolio implementation for rules-based, index-tracking and model-tracking accounts and ETFs, collaborating with PMs, traders and operations to keep portfolios aligned with models.

The role emphasizes detailed data checks, processing ETF subscriptions/redemptions, and maintaining internal reports and tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work in high-volume environments.
  • Operational understanding of equities and derivatives trade management and how capital markets function.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including data analysis, formulas and reconciliation).
  • Structured, process-driven approach and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily portfolio implementation activities across over 150 accounts, including rebalancing, cash management, currency management, and model updates across Mutual Funds, ETFs, SMAs, and Index Funds.
  • Monitor portfolios relative to target allocations and tolerance bands; prepare rebalancing files and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with subscription and redemption activity for Mackenzie passive and active ETFs, including in-kind and cash processing.
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure portfolio data accuracy and compliance with investment guidelines.
  • Monitor tracking error, tracking difference and other portfolio metrics; address discrepancies when identified.
  • Maintain and update internal reports, spreadsheets, and quantitative tools used for portfolio monitoring.
  • Assist in documenting processes and identifying opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.

Mackenzie Investments is seeking a full-time Associate Investment Analyst to join the Multi-Asset Strategies team within the Investment Management department. The candidate will be responsible for daily operational activities supporting the portfolio management of rules based, index tracking and model tracking accounts and ETFs.

This position is well suited to a detail-oriented and highly organized individual who enjoys working in a structured environment and takes pride in accuracy and consistency. The role involves recurring daily tasks, process-driven workflows, and close collaboration with portfolio managers, trading teams and internal and external operations teams to ensure portfolios remain aligned with established models and guidelines.

The successful candidate will gain hands‑on experience in portfolio implementation, ETF, mutual fund and institutional account operations and risk monitoring.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • Support daily portfolio implementation activities across over 150 accounts, including assisting with rebalancing, cash management, currency management, and model updates across Mutual Funds, ETFs, SMAs, and Index Funds.
  • Monitor portfolios relative to target allocations and tolerance bands; prepare rebalancing files and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with subscription and redemption activity for Mackenzie passive and active ETFs, including in‑kind and cash processing
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure portfolio data accuracy and compliance with investment guidelines.
  • Monitor tracking error, tracking difference and other portfolio metrics; escape discrepancies when identified
  • Maintain and update internal reports, spreadsheets, and quantitative tools used for portfolio monitoring.
  • Assist in documenting processes and identifying opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.

Minimum requirements for this role include:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work in a high-volume environment.
  • Comfortable working with high transaction volumes and large dollar values where precision is essential.
  • Operational understanding of equities and derivatives trade management and how capital markets function.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including data analysis, formulas and reconciliation work)
  • Organized, dependable, comfortable performing structured, process-driven tasks on a daily basis.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with portfolio management systems, tools, and operational workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of Python (including Pandas) and basic database concepts (SQL) preferred.
  • Familiarity with trading or portfolio management systems (e.g., Bloomberg AIM) is an asset.
  • Completion or progress towards completion of the CIM or CFA designation is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short‑term incentive, health and well‑being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
