What You’ll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world.

How You’ll Succeed
Research – As Research Associate, the incumbent will work closely with Research Analyst covering the Technology sector. The Associate will develop a depth of knowledge in financial analysis, covered industries and the capital markets. In the role, they will gain valuable experience in gathering information, researching companies and industries leveraging primary, secondary and alternative sources, and recognizing and analyzing industry trends. The associate will also be active writing reports, as well as developing and maintaining financial models.
Client Focus – In cooperation with the Research Analyst they will participate in regular calls with public companies to get direct data from the senior management teams, as well as ad hoc calls, meetings and industry events. The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales, Trading, Investment Banking colleagues and clients as required.
Who You Are
You have attained relevant education. Please include a writing sample along with your cover letter, resume and transcripts (if a recent graduate). Preference is given to candidates who possess an MBA or CFA and a university degree in Engineering, Commerce, Finance, Economics or Math. Candidates who possess an accounting designation would be an asset.
You can demonstrate relevant industry experience conducting financial analysis of companies and economics. Previous capital markets experience is highly preferred. Work experience or background in the technology sector is an asset. Excellent background in accounting and finance is a preference.
You are technically savvy. Excellent knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote).
You're motivated by collective success. Ability to explain detailed financial and statistical analysis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with internal and external clients.
You know that details matter. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to complete and explain detailed financial and statistical analysis. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
