What You'll Be Doing

The Associate Institutional Business Development reports to the Director Institutional Client Experience and collaborates with the Institutional Business Development and Consultant Relations teams to identify, develop, and expand new institutional asset management business. You will participate from prospect identification through to solution proposal, presentation, and follow-up. You will also work across multiple channels, including institutional clients, investment consultants, direct plan sponsors, and internal CIBC networks.

How You'll Succeed

  • Business development: Support sales strategies to promote CIBC GAM products, analyze growth opportunities, and provide recommendations.
  • Relationship management: Grow revenues by developing leads, fostering relationships, and ensuring professional, seamless service delivery.
  • Pipeline management: Generate progress reports, facilitate communication, and analyze market potential and competition.
  • Client engagement: Use GAM’s resources to identify prospects, arrange meetings, and enhance GAM’s reputation. Assist in producing RFIs, RFPs, and presentations.
  • Leveraging technology: Become proficient with GAM’s databases and presentation tools, including Qvidian, Seismic, SharePoint, and eVestment.
  • Collaboration: Share productivity suggestions, work on projects with the Institutional Client Experience team, and represent GAM with various management teams.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree / MBA in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related; CIM / CFA preferred.
  • Experience in investment management, knowledge of asset classes, fixed income a plus. 3-5 years in investment management, institutional sales support, or consulting preferred.
  • Client-focused, purpose-driven, relationship-oriented, and authentic in interactions.

  • Fluency in French is an asset.
