What you’ll be doing

As the Associate, Global Markets Sales, you will work closely with marketers and traders to develop appropriate solutions and ensure timely execution. You will determine and provide product/rate information to our clients with exemplary service. Your responsibilities include initiating and developing client relationships through outbound and follow-up calls, generating value-add ideas, conducting client meetings and presentations, and offering customized solutions and trusted advice. You will liaise with other CIBC infrastructure groups (ISG, credit, treasury, tax, legal, client onboarding, etc.) and resources to deliver transactions and cross-sell other products, depending on product availability and customer requirements, always making sound judgments. You will monitor and analyze market activities and economic factors throughout the day to respond to client requests proactively. Additionally, you will develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study and be prepared to cross-train as needed. Attendance at learning sessions held by the Trading Room is also expected. This position requires working in-office and frequent domestic travel.

How you’ll succeed

  • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS- Collaborate with relationship managers in Capital Markets and the Retail Bank across different product lines, as well as with support groups such as Middle Office, Finance, Legal, Technology, and Operations.
  • COMPLIANCE- Work within CIBC's governance practices and policies to address potential risks, uphold legal and reputational standards, and promote the firm’s mission and values. Compliance with all applicable policies, standards, and controls is mandatory.

Who You Are

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or related fields, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Work Experience: Experience in related industries preferred; background in accounting and finance is an asset. Knowledge of current financial markets and transactions is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Collaborative: Strong communication skills in both French and English, capable of conveying complex information clearly. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge and demonstrate competence in transactions and client relationships.
  • Interactive Skills: Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with significant presentation abilities. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical, quantitative, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work independently under deadlines.
  • Values: Demonstrate trust, teamwork, and accountability, bringing your authentic self to work.
