Job summary

TEEMA seeks a senior corporate commercial lawyer for a 12‑month in‑house contract with a BC regulatory body. You will advise across contracts, procurement, governance, privacy, HR and board strategy, delivering broad and complex legal support.

Qualifications

• Senior corporate commercial lawyer with strong drafting and negotiating contracts.
• Experience with privacy law and FOIPPA is a plus.
• Interest in public/regulatory sector and governance work.

Responsibilities

• Provide broad in-house guidance across contracts, procurement, governance and privacy.
• Advise senior leadership on strategic legal matters and board-level issues.
• Draft and negotiate MOU and employment agreements; manage HR terminations where needed.
• Support privacy compliance and regulatory interactions with external bodies.

A respected BC regulatory body is looking for a corporate commercial lawyer to step in as Associate General Counsel for a 12-month contract.

The role:

This is a broad, senior in-house mandate. You will be advising across the full corporate legal function - contracts, procurement, governance, privacy, HR, and board-level strategy. No two weeks look the same and the work carries real complexity and variety.

What you will be working on:

• Privacy law and FOIPPA compliance
• Corporate governance and board committee advice
• MOU negotiations with other regulatory bodies
• HR matters including employment agreements and sensitive terminations
• Strategic legal advice to senior leadership
