Description:

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto invites applications for the RTO-ERO Chair in Geriatric Medicine. The Chair term is five years, renewable once for a second five-year term contingent upon successful performance review. The successful applicant must hold or be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine. The appointment and re-appointment process of the Chair will follow the University of TorontoPolicy on Endowed and Limited Term Chairs, Professorships, Distinguished Scholars, and Program Initiatives.

The successful candidate will hold a MD degree, hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), and hold certification in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or international equivalent.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake collaborative research and promote discovery and education in geriatric medicine. The Chair is expected to advance excellence in research that will optimize quality of care and/or quality of life for older adults with complex, chronic diseases. The successful candidate will have an established reputation of clinical expertise and be an internationally renowned scientist, with a track record of conducting high quality innovative and impactful research in geriatric medicine. Through research and scholarly activities, the Chair holder will help position the University of Toronto as a global leader in knowledge generation and translation in the area of geriatric medicine. Additional duties will include teaching and supervision of medical trainees and graduate students. Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills, with demonstrated experience are essential.
