Carleton University invites applications for up to two tenured positions as Canada Excellence Research Chairs in the following areas: Accessibility, Arctic Security and Diplomacy, Cybersecurity and/or Quantum Computing, and Experimental Particle Physics.
Applicants should demonstrate how their research will advance Canada's science, technology, and innovation priorities in one or more of the specified areas. Details about each research area are provided below.
The candidate should be an internationally recognized scholar in accessibility research, focusing on designing and delivering accessible products, facilities, and services to enable independent participation in society. The role involves fostering an interdisciplinary research environment at Carleton.
The candidate should have a strong record in Arctic security or diplomacy, addressing sovereignty, environmental change, geopolitical tensions, and Indigenous rights, and engaging with policymakers, industry, and Indigenous communities.
The candidate should promote interdisciplinary research addressing cybersecurity challenges and quantum computing, including cryptography, software security, privacy, quantum algorithms, and quantum machine learning.
The candidate should have a proven track record in particle physics research with world-class experiments, leading the development of next-generation experiments in areas like neutrino physics and dark matter.
Applicants from outside academia must meet the qualifications for a full-time academic appointment at the appropriate level. Candidates are evaluated based on research merit, leadership, mentorship, inclusivity, and potential contributions to Canada's research ecosystem.
