What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets' Global Investment Banking division is seeking an Associate to join the Financial Institutions Group (“FIG”) in Toronto. The FIG team provides advisory services and financing solutions for financial services companies across Canada. This position offers a chance to develop broad financial skills and gain exposure to global capital markets, ideal for individuals aiming for a long-term investment banking career.

What will you do?

• Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of corporate clients, including developing complex financial models.
• Support transaction structuring and execution, with increasing responsibility over time.
• Conduct financial and industry analysis of companies and sectors.
• Contribute to client meetings and presentations.
• Research market trends and analyze future opportunities.
• Assist in executing equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory projects.

What do you need to succeed?

• 2+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, corporate development, or accounting.
• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a quantitative field from a leading university.
• Strong quantitative skills in financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong competencies in collaboration, relationship building, communication, integrity, and inclusivity.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and under pressure.
• Well-rounded interests and extracurricular activities.
• Desire to develop leadership skills and contribute meaningfully in a team environment.
• Relevant professional designations like CFA, CPA, MBA, P.Eng. are assets but not required.
