What you will do

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients in a variety of areas, including but not limited to estate and commercial litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, analysis and assessment to support the team.
  • Address complaints against Trustees and interpret estate and trust documents and oversee the winding up of trusts and the passing of accounts.
  • Address contract and commercial disputes and oversee litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, hearings and court proceedings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Stay informed on relevant areas of law and participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

What you bring to the role

  • 2+ years of call and in good standing with the Law Society.
  • Experience in litigation from a reputable firm (commercial, estates or both).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a practical and pragmatic style toward providing expert legal solutions.
  • The ability to balance the demands of an emerging practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as administrative and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented and hard-working.
  • Resourcefulness and able to work with a high level of autonomy.
  • Must be highly entrepreneurial, with excellent academic credentials and attention to detail, and will be expected to consistently deliver timely, high-quality legal advice.
