Provides communications leadership, expert advice and strategic guidance for all sections under own supervision. Develops and implements communication strategies in support of University priorities as well as those of assigned administrative sections. Fosters understanding, engagement and participation among students and employees regarding services, policies and organizational changes, while helping protect and promote the University’s reputation among targeted internal and external audiences.
Manages a central team of communications experts assigned to a diverse portfolio of internal partners with multiple, sometimes competing, priorities. Establishes means of prioritizing, managing requests, dividing the workload and setting service levels, to offer proactive, consistent and predictable service to all client sections.
Ensures own team’s actions align with University directions and best strategic communication practices. Ensures links with other Marketing and Communications office units, including Marketing, Creative Services, Web, Content Marketing, Public Affairs, Media Relations and Language Services.
Offers each internal partner an integrated, consistent approach based on an overall communications plan drawing on the full range of office expertise, rather than a continual series of one-time, isolated actions.
Contributes through own leadership to the ongoing evolution of the University’s communication service provision model, encouraging adoption of client-focused approaches for internal partners and ensuring optimal use of resources to maximize impact of University-wide communication initiatives.

If this is a front-line position with responsibilities to interact with students, selected candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
Prior to May 1, 2022, the University required all students, faculty, staff, and visitors (including contractors) to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as defined in Policy 129 – Covid-19 Vaccination.
