Position Overview :

The Associate Director , Quality Assurance (QA) will play a critical role in ensuring that CanPrev’s products meet the highest industry standards for quality. This strategic leadership position involves overseeing all aspects of the Quality department, driving continuous process improvements, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with experience in quality management systems, regulatory affairs, and natural health product standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the Quality department to ensure the consistent production of high-quality products.
  • Partner with key stakeholders from Product Development, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and other departments to ensure that quality standards are embedded in product development and external contract manufacturing processes.
  • Provide senior management with strategic guidance, reporting on quality performance, trends, and key metrics, with actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Perform risk assessments on quality events (deviations, audit findings, inspections) and lead the development of effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to mitigate recurring issues.
  • Drive continuous improvements within the Quality team to enhance processes, reduce variability, and improve overall product consistency.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Health Canada, FDA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor and develop a team of quality professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that emphasizes accountability, growth, and professional development.
  • Establish and maintain key quality documents (Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) etc.)

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Food Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years of experience in quality assurance, with a minimum of 4-5 years in a leadership role within the natural health product, pharmaceutical, or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Health Canada, FDA, and GMP regulations. Experience with Health Canada submissions and regulatory inspections is an asset.
  • Proven track record of leading GxP investigations, performing risk assessments, and managing CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) processes.
  • Strong understanding of product development, manufacturing, and testing processes for natural health products (NHPs).
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams. A proactive, results-oriented mindset is key.
  • Experience with both internal and external audits, as well as managing regulatory inspections.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to identify, resolve, and proactively prevent complex quality issues.
  • Experience with quality management software and tools, coupled with a strong understanding of data analysis and reporting.
  • A deep commitment to continuous process improvement, efficiency, and maintaining high standards of product quality.
