Job summary

RBC is seeking a Senior Project Manager within the Strategy and Portfolio Management (SPM) team in Toronto to lead large-scale, cross-functional strategic change and regulatory initiatives in Capital Markets and QTS.

The role requires oversight across multiple work streams, governance, and senior stakeholder engagement, ensuring on-time delivery within scope and budget.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience.
  • At least 3+ years PM experience in Capital Markets across cross-asset large-scale initiatives (>$5M).
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and 2+ years with Agile delivery methodologies & tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Rally Central).
  • Domain expertise in asset classes (Rates, Credit, Equities) and Front Office, Operations, Risk areas.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; structured thinking.
  • Experience presenting to Directors and MDs across IT and business.
  • MS Office proficiency (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cross-asset strategic & regulatory initiatives with multiple work streams through full project lifecycle.
  • Work with Global Business/Technology Owners to ensure initiatives deliver business outcomes and enable value creation.
  • Establish governance and oversight for allocated initiatives.
  • Develop integrated baseline project plans with estimation models and track inter-work stream dependencies.
  • Raise and track issues, remove barriers, escalate as needed.
  • Manage program communications to executives, stakeholders, vendors, project team.
  • Provide delivery assurance and lead IT face-off to RBC internal audit.

Job Description

Senior Project Manager, Strategy and Portfolio Management (SPM) will manage the execution of large & complex strategic change/regulatory initiatives within Capital Markets (CM) & Quantitative & Technology Services (QTS). The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities across cross-functional business and technology teams within and outside Capital Markets to ensure program goals and objectives are accomplished within approved timeframe, scope and budget. This role requires an understanding of Capital Markets & QTS Strategy and ensuring program deliverables align to that vision.

What will you do?
  • Lead and manage x-asset strategic & regulatory initiatives with multiple work streams through full project lifecycle (initiation, definition, financials, resourcing, implementation, delivery, enhancement, maintenance)
  • Work with Global Business/Technology Owners to ensure that the initiatives successfully deliver against desired business outcomes and enable value creation
  • Establish appropriate governance and oversight for assigned initiatives
  • Develop integrated baseline project plans applying estimation models; refines & tracks plans including coordination of inter-work stream dependencies; manages performance against delivery plans
  • Raise and track issues and conflicts, removes barriers, resolves project issues and escalates to immediate manager when required
  • Manage program communications including status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, project team
  • Responsible for support & oversight of project and program delivery assurance and lead IT face off to RBC internal audit
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • 5+ years Project Management experience
  • At least 3+ years of PM experience in Capital Markets (IT or business) across cross asset large scale ($5M+) complex strategic change and regulatory initiatives.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge of SDLC and 2+ years of experience with Agile delivery methodologies & tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Rally Central)
  • Domain expertise in one or more asset classes (Rates, Credit, Equities) and F2B functional areas Front Office (trade capture, pricing, trading risk/pnl), Operations, Product Control, Market and Credit Risk.

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities; Strong structured, analytical and methodological thinking

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
Nice-to-have
  • Prior consulting experience with “Big Four”
  • PMP and/or PgMP certification
