Job summary

OMERS is seeking an Associate Director of Portfolio Management and Operations to drive analytics, reporting and due diligence for the Private Equity portfolio across direct investments and funds. This role focuses on performance monitoring, risk alignment, and implementing efficient processes with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in private market investments, portfolio management, private equity, or investment operations.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering actionable insights.
  • Experience with investment valuation, financial modelling, and portfolio analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of OMERS Private Equity investments, including financial and operational metrics, to ensure alignment with return and risk objectives.
  • Prepare and present regular and ad-hoc portfolio reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and the Private Equity Investment Committee.
  • Support the valuation process for the Private Equity portfolio by collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and third-party valuators.
  • Assist in the due diligence, execution, and integration of new Private Equity investments and divestitures, including coordination with legal, finance, and external advisors.
  • Develop and enhance portfolio management processes, tools, and best practices to drive efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Identify and assess portfolio risks, support the implementation of mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with OMERS risk frameworks.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams (e.g., finance, legal, operations) and external partners to support portfolio objectives and information flow.
  • Lead or participate in strategic projects aimed at improving portfolio management capabilities and operational effectiveness.

The Associate Director, Portfolio Management and Operations is a key member of the Private Equity Investments team, responsible for supporting the effective management, oversight, and optimization of OMERS Private Equity portfolio. This role will focus on portfolio analytics, performance monitoring, reporting, operational due diligence, and execution of portfolio management initiatives, ensuring alignment with OMERS strategic objectives and risk management frameworks. This role spans direct private equity and private capital (including funds, ventures, and life sciences).

You Will Be Responsible For

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in private market investments, portfolio management, private equity, or investment operations, ideally within a pension fund, asset manager, or investment bank
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering actionable insights
  • Experience with investment valuation, financial modeling, and portfolio analytics
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
  • MBA, CFA, or other relevant designations
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as PowerBI
This posting is for an existing vacancy.
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000-180,000 per year.
