Job summary

The Armour Group Limited is seeking an Associate Director, Maintenance to lead maintenance operations across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. You will oversee a team of managers, coordinate preventative maintenance, and ensure reliability across a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, and hospitality properties.

Ideal candidates bring progressive maintenance leadership, strong engineering knowledge, and a track record of improving operational processes.

Qualifications

  • Progressive leadership experience in maintenance, facilities, engineering, asset management, property operations, construction, manufacturing, or related technical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building systems and preventative maintenance with troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience improving operational processes, systems, or performance.
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets, and multiple priorities.
  • Engineering background is a strong asset; P.Eng. preferred; Lean/Six Sigma or PMP assets are a plus.
  • Ability to travel between properties as required.

  • Lead maintenance operations across Armour's portfolio in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
  • Coach and develop maintenance managers and teams, establishing expectations and accountability.
  • Oversee preventative and routine maintenance programs to improve reliability and asset performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex building systems and recurring operational issues.
  • Establish consistent maintenance processes, standards, and documentation across properties.
  • Drive operational improvements by streamlining workflows and optimizing resources.
  • Manage contractors, service providers, scopes of work, and maintenance-related projects.
  • Support maintenance budgets, forecasting, capital planning, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct property inspections to identify maintenance and asset risks while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to move initiatives forward.

The Opportunity

The Associate Director, Maintenance will lead maintenance operations across Armour's portfolio in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, overseeing a team of managers and maintenance professionals. This role will focus on strengthening preventative maintenance, building reliability, and operational consistency while developing team capabilities and driving practical improvements across the portfolio. Working within a well-established, entrepreneurial organization, this role will suit a leader who is comfortable with a high level of ownership, can navigate changing priorities, and knows how to balance immediate operational needs with longer-term planning.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead maintenance operations across Armour's commercial, residential, and hospitality portfolio.
  • Coach and develop maintenance managers and teams, establishing clear expectations and strengthening accountability and performance.
  • Oversee preventative and routine maintenance programs with a focus on building reliability, asset performance, and reducing downtime.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex building systems, equipment, and recurring operational issues.
  • Establish consistent maintenance processes, standards, and documentation across properties.
  • Drive operational improvements by streamlining workflows, optimizing resources, and using performance insights to support better decision-making.
  • Manage contractors, service providers, scopes of work, and maintenance-related projects.
  • Support maintenance budgets, forecasting, capital planning, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct property inspections to proactively identify maintenance and asset risks while ensuring safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to address operational priorities and keep initiatives moving forward.
What We're Looking For

As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced technical operations leader with a strong track record of leading people and improving performance. You know how to set expectations, develop capable managers, and create accountability while building strong relationships across an organization. Approachable and collaborative, you are also confident in making decisions, providing direction, and keeping teams focused on what matters most. You bring a practical, solution-focused mindset and the ability to see both the immediate issue and the bigger operational picture. You are comfortable challenging existing approaches when there is a better way forward, navigating competing priorities with a sense of urgency, and taking ownership through to execution.

Qualifications and experience include:
  • Progressive leadership experience in maintenance, facilities, engineering, asset management, property operations, construction, manufacturing, or a related technical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building systems and preventative maintenance practices, with proven troubleshooting and technical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience improving operational processes, systems, or performance.
  • Experience managing contractors, projects, budgets, and multiple operational priorities.
  • An engineering background in mechanical, electrical, civil, industrial, or a related discipline is considered a strong asset; a P.Eng. designation is preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience is considered an asset.
  • PMP or demonstrated project management experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel between properties as required.
