Job summary

Perseus Group, an operating unit of Constellation Software, seeks an Associate Director of M&A to lead mid-market transactions from due diligence through closing. The role requires advanced financial modelling, strong relationship management, and the ability to work onsite in Toronto 2-3 days per week.

You will build detailed financial models, perform rigorous analyses, and coordinate across teams while engaging with senior executives and outside advisors.

Qualifications

• 5 years of progressive work experience at top-tier accounting, capital advisory, investment banking, management consulting, transaction services and/or private equity firms, with 2-3 years of mid-market deal experience executing transactions.
• CPA, CA designation / CFA / and/or MBA are assets and considered advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills (verbal & written) with emphasis on relationships, report writing, and research analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support the VP of M&A throughout the entire M&A process with the opportunity to independently lead the acquisition process from start to finish.
• Qualifying targets for fit and deal probability through initial conversations with owners/senior executives and review of diligence materials.
• Performing detailed financial analysis on financial statements and underlying data to identify trends and assess business strength and quality.
• Building a detailed financial model in Excel to determine valuation.
• Facilitating the due diligence process and coordinating across multiple internal teams.
• Maintaining relationships with decision makers at acquisition targets.

Associate Director of M&A

The Associate Director of M&A will support the Vice President of M&A throughout the entire M&A life cycle from lead generation through to closing transactions. The expectation is the candidate will be able to lead transactions independently as their career progresses.

Job Location: Toronto, Yonge & St. Clair (onsite 2-3 days/week)

Work Experience/Profile:

• 5 years of progressive work experience at a top tier accounting, capital advisory, investment banking, management consulting, transaction services and/or private equity firm, with 2-3 years of mid-market deal experience executing transactions
• Experience working with small owner-managed businesses as a client/target
• Buy side experience is a plus but not required
• CPA, CA designation / CFA / and/or MBA are considered assets
• Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills (both verbal & written) with an emphasis on relationships, report writing, and research analysis
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and exceptional Financial Modelling skills
• Ability to work variable hours and travel when required to close transactions
• Confidence and polish is required for frequent interaction with Senior Executives, Business Owners, Investment Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants, and other key Stakeholders

Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):

The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$126,000.00 - CAD$154,000.00 per year.
