Job summary

Jobtailor in Longueuil, Canada seeks a senior Global Trade advisor to drive the integration of global compliance into our digital enterprise. You will influence technology strategy, lead AECS evolution, and partner with senior executives to ensure alignment with sanctions, classifications, and export controls across complex global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 12+ years in Global Trade, export compliance or related roles
• Substantive knowledge of Global Trade requirements across jurisdiction, classification and sanctions/screening
• Ability to translate Global Trade requirements to business and tech terms for stakeholders
• Experience with automated trade compliance systems and digital technologies (ERP/GTS, screening, data governance)
• Experience in highly regulated industries and with enterprise architecture, data controls and tech delivery processes

Responsibilities

• Lead integration of Global Trade requirements into digital enterprise and technology solutions

• Identify capability gaps and opportunities to improve automation and efficiency
• Influence enterprise Global Trade initiatives and align with enterprise standards
• Provide leadership and portfolio visibility to senior leaders
• Build relationships and lead through influence across teams
• Challenge status quo to improve compliance through tech and data
• Report to Director, Global Trade, DT/GT and AECS
• Travel ~10% as needed

Job description

• Lead the integration of Global Trade requirements into the digital enterprise, including digital strategies, projects, applications and technology solutions.


• Serve as a senior Global Trade advisor across Digital Technology and business transformation initiatives.


• Translate Global Trade requirements into clear business and technology requirements and explain, defend and challenge them with stakeholders and senior executives.


• Assess and challenge technology and business initiatives where priorities, compliance risks or objectives are misaligned; develop recommendations and drive issues to resolution.


• Lead the evolution of the Automated Export Control System (AECS) value stream and define future-state capabilities.


• Advance scalable automation, data-driven controls and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) approaches.


• Establish the Global Trade governance and engagement model for technology initiatives.


• Assess and strengthen Global Trade controls across digital tools and processes.


• Identify capability gaps, emerging risks and opportunities to improve automation, scalability and operational efficiency.


• Influence enterprise and corporate Global Trade initiatives and support alignment with enterprise strategies and standards.


• Provide strategic leadership and portfolio visibility, surfacing risks and dependencies for senior leaders.


• Build relationships and lead through influence across Global Trade, Digital Technology and business teams.


• Challenge the status quo and identify improvements to Global Trade compliance through technology, processes and data.


• Report to the Director, Global Trade, DT/GT and AECS.


• Travel between company sites as needed, approximately 10% of the time.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years of experience in Global Trade, export compliance, trade technology or related roles, including experience with export control and sanctions regulations; OR an advanced degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.


• Substantive knowledge of Global Trade requirements across jurisdiction/classification, authorizations, tangible and intangible transfers, and sanctions/screening.


• Demonstrated ability to apply Global Trade requirements to complex business and technology environments and to explain, defend and challenge requirements with senior stakeholders.


• Experience working with automated trade compliance systems and digital technologies, such as ERP/GTS platforms, classification solutions, screening platforms, data governance, access-control solutions or similar technologies.


• Experience in a highly regulated industry or complex global environment, such as aerospace and defense, advanced manufacturing, automotive, semiconductors, energy, life sciences, technology or similar industries.


• Experience working within or closely with a Digital Technology organization, with an understanding of enterprise architecture, application development, data, access controls and technology delivery processes.


• Strong strategic and analytical mindset.


• Strong leadership and influencing skills within a matrixed, global organization.


• Strong sense of ownership and urgency, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, **??**


• Very good knowledge of English required for daily documentation, technical terms, and communication with international customers, suppliers or colleagues.


• Criminal background check and required clearances for handling and transferring controlled goods.
