The Work

This opportunity will play a pivotal role within the Financial Planning and Reporting team in one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Canada. The AD/Sr. Manager, Financial Planning & Reporting will use their financial modeling and analytical skills to develop or enhance scheduled and ad hoc models and reports that drive key management decisions.

Strong organization and multi-tasking skills are essential, and the individual should be able to work independently with initiative. Although there are 2 direct reports under this role, the Sr. Manager/ AD must also be willing to take a hands-on approach and pay high attention to detail.

The individual will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as they will work extensively with department heads and leadership. The ability to gather and document reporting requirements and statements of work is crucial.

The Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Personal Lending, Payments, and Digital Bank portfolios, primarily supporting the Head of Personal Business

Maintenance of Financial Models (25%)

  • Collaborate with Senior Management to gather relevant assumptions for financial models
  • Develop and maintain financial models for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Deliverables include budgets, forecasts, monthly reports, accruals, NIM, profitability, ROE, and pricing analysis
  • Review output from detailed financial models for accuracy
  • Ensure data extraction and interpretation are accurate
  • Employ advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.)
  • Review work of Financial Analysts and Associates

Financial Analysis/Ad hoc Reporting (35%)

  • Collect, consolidate, and analyze financial data and KPIs
  • Present insights and recommendations to management monthly and quarterly
  • Handle ad hoc requests with flexibility and attention to detail
  • Review work of team members involved in analysis and reporting

Enhance Financial Analysis and Processes (25%)

  • Work with senior leadership to improve models, analysis, and reporting processes
  • Assess and implement process improvements, including automation
  • Review team work on process enhancements

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion

Let's Talk About You!

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business
  • MBA/CPA/CFA preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience supervising team members
  • Knowledge of mortgage and personal banking products
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and macros
  • Experience with data manipulation and database tools (SQL is an asset)
  • Financial statement and modeling knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in teams
