About the International Student Enrolment, Education and Inclusion (ISEEI) Office:

International Student Enrolment, Education and Inclusion (ISEEI) provides the university with strategic leadership to support TMU’s goal of increasing international student enrolment as outlined by the International Strategy. Through international recruitment campaigns, ISEEI contributes to the building of TMU’s international profile and brand. ISEEI is involved in ensuring a quality experience for international students from application to enrolment by working alongside partners within the Office of the Assistant Vice President, International at TMU Global.

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is seeking an exceptional Associate Director, ELI Student Success and Program Innovation to join our dynamic team.

The Associate Director, ELI Student Success and Program Innovation will provide academic leadership, operations management and services in support of the English Language Institute’s (ELI) strategic plan and ESL/EAL curriculum initiatives. This role will develop innovative academic programming to enhance teaching and learning experiences which facilitate student success and ensure a high-quality student experience to maximize student conversion into undergraduate programs. Additionally, the successful candidate will support the creation of targeted, strategic relationships and partnerships with domestic as well as international interest holders to support the ELI ESL/EAL and TMU Global’s vision, mission and objectives.

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Education or TESL/Applied Linguistics or a related field.
  • TESL Canada-approved certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience developing and delivering innovative academic programs and international student services in the higher education sector.
  • Experience in leading and managing staff in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in managing budgets related to enrollment and student services portfolios including instructor compensation, course delivery, student engagement events, etc.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of literature and pedagogy in the ESL/EAL fields.
  • Knowledge of international trends and challenges in education, student market and their expectations including cross-cultural competence.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage technology to enhance student success and program efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility.
  • Strategic and business planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement successful market growth strategies.
  • Knowledge of project and change management with the ability to lead and manage project teams, including the ability to effectively influence and manage key interest holder groups.
  • Ability to use evidence and data to inform strategic, high quality decision making.
