What is the opportunity?You will lead strategy development and guide execution as part of a lean team. Requires learning quickly and communicating clearly to enrich information into actionable intelligence that informs decision making and guides execution along the strategic roadmap for Business & Client Services (BCS).
The Business and Client Services (BCS) group is the functional core of RBC Capital Markets’ trading and lending activities. We provide our business partners greater efficiency, scalability and control within their operational processing, helping to ensure the firm’s continued growth and success.
The Digital Transformation and Business Architecture teams shape and advance the BCS transformation roadmap through a holistic lens including people, processes, data and technologies. Through a variety of tools and methodologies, our team strives to clearly articulate a vision for the future of our business, and drive towards it, in collaboration with our business and IT partners.
As an Associate Director of Digital Transformation, a typical day might include the following:
- Acting as a business analyst and learning a functional process
- Developing a strategic vision with practitioners, partners, and senior leaders
- Developing program, project, and initiative level roadmaps for which you will provide planning and execution guidance
- Modeling functional capabilities and learning how a business delivers its services
- Auditioning ideas to various levels of the organization to create robust value propositions and bolster a sense of ownership across stakeholders
- Testing ideas to ensure conviction of belief is based on evidence
- Liaising with and managing cross-functional teams to architect, implement, test and continuously deliver solutions to our clients
- Presenting key strategies to communicate vision, roadmap and achieve buy-in from senior management and stakeholders
- Thought-leadership on key and emerging technologies, competitive landscape and capital markets transformation
- Business casing, forecasting, opportunity analysis, and pitch materials
- Developing elements of the client journey and experience ownership
- Identifying improvement opportunities in BCS, and leveraging rapid experimentation and research to discern the right solution
- Reporting progress of project status, milestones, and achievements to stakeholders
- Leading the comprehensive mapping, analysis and redesign of business processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for technology & automation, process improvements and home-of-best-fit recommendations
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and service providers in assessing new technologies and industry trends
Who We’re Looking For
- You have a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in financial services, strategy consulting, or engineering
- You have a broad view of the enterprise and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- You have helped lead the comprehensive mapping, analysis and redesign of business processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for technology & automation, process improvements and home-of-best-fit recommendations
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit, a hunger to learn, and the ability to exercise the self-control necessary to diplomatically defend the important from the urgent
- You are a client-first strategic thinker with enterprise vision
- You are results-oriented and focused on client, user, and business outcomes
- You develop and leverage structured approaches, frameworks and toolkits

- You have delivered commendable customer service experiences in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have
- >1 year experience in commercial/corporate credit or banking
- Experience reviewing/creating business plans
- Experience in education
- Team-based success experience
- A great understanding of the industry trends in digitization and automation space, software providers and the factors that differentiate an organization
- Working knowledge of applying business architecture principles to business solutions
- Strong product leadership skills and the ability to own a portfolio of projects end-to-end independently, including a track record of successful product deliveries
- You have experience with Agile methodologies, mindset and tooling including JIRA and Confluence
- Proven experience in consulting or similar strategic, transformation focused industry roles considered an asset
- Portfolio based relationship management experience
