Job summary

About the Opportunity

UJA Federation of Greater Toronto is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-oriented Associate Director, Digital Fundraising to lead the growth and optimization of digital and direct fundraising across UJA’s mass donor portfolio.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Marketing, Community Fundraising, the Associate Director is responsible for translating UJA’s mass fundraising strategy into an integrated digital and direct fundraising roadmap that grows revenue, acquires new donors, reactivates lapsed donors, expands monthly giving, and increases donor retention and lifetime value.

The Associate Director will lead digital fundraising across the full donor lifecycle, from first engagement and acquisition through onboarding, repeat giving, stewardship, upgrades, retention, and reactivation. Using data, segmentation, automation, testing, and audience insights, the role will ensure that supporters receive relevant communications and giving opportunities based on their interests, behaviours, and relationship with UJA. While digital channels are the primary focus of this role, success depends on integrating digital fundraising with direct mail, telefundraising, stewardship communications, and broader Mass fundraising activities to create a cohesive donor experience across channels.

This is a senior, hands-on role that combines strategic planning with direct involvement in priority initiatives. The Associate Director will serve as UJA’s internal digital fundraising expert, provide advice to cross-functional partners, and lead the planning and performance of integrated fundraising programs across email, paid media, social, web, SMS, automation, and other emerging digital channels.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Digital Fundraising & Revenue Growth

• Lead the planning, development, and execution of integrated digital fundraising campaigns that support acquisition, conversion, retention, and revenue growth.

• Monitor performance against agreed revenue and donor growth targets and recommend adjustments to improve results.
• Drive the growth of one-time and monthly giving through digital channels.

• Lead integrated fundraising campaigns leveraging multi-channel initiatives, including digital, direct mail, telefundraising, stewardship, and community engagement efforts.

Donor Lifecycle & Journey Development

• Lead the development and optimization of donor journeys across acquisition, onboarding, stewardship, retention, upgrades, and reactivation.
• Identify opportunities to improve donor experience and increase lifetime value.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure fundraising communications are timely, relevant, and audience-focused.

Segmentation, Analytics & Optimization

• Lead audience segmentation strategies and targeting approaches for digital fundraising programs.
• Analyze campaign and donor performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Develop and manage testing and optimization plans across channels, audiences, messaging, and donor journeys.
• Translate fundraising data into actionable recommendations.

Campaign & Channel Leadership

• Oversee digital fundraising execution across email, paid media, social, web, automation, and other digital channels.
• Develop channel plans, creative briefs, and campaign requirements for internal and external partners.

• Lead the alignment and delivery of unified multi-channel campaigns encompassing digital, direct mail, telefundraising, donor stewardship, community events, and broader Mass fundraising initiatives to deliver a coordinated donor experience and maximize fundraising performance.

• Manage key vendor and agency relationships supporting digital and direct fundraising programs.

Cross-Functional & Team Leadership

• Serve as a subject-matter expert on digital fundraising, donor journeys, segmentation, and marketing automation.
• Manage and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Lead cross-functional planning and collaboration with Fundraising, Content, Creative, DART, Digital, Donor Services, and other teams to deliver integrated fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications:

• • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business, Fundraising, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in digital fundraising, direct response fundraising, individual giving, annual giving, performance marketing, or a related field.

  • Proven experience developing and executing integrated digital fundraising campaigns that drive donor acquisition, conversion, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated success managing fundraising programs across multiple digital channels, including email, paid media, web, social, SMS, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience using CRM and marketing automation tools, ideally Salesforce and Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience analyzing fundraising performance and using data to inform decision-making and optimization.
  • Experience with integrated fundraising programs that include digital fundraising, direct mail, telefundraising, stewardship, and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Experience managing projects, vendors, agencies, budgets, and/or direct reports.

This is a full-time permanent position. Salary range: $85,00-$95,000 annually, based on experience. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule andallofour employees engage in hybrid work.
