Job Summary :
Altus Group is looking for an Associate Director to join our Development Advisory Team in Calgary Office. Reporting to the Director, Cost Planning, you will work with the management team on various asset types and accounts. Your role involves providing guidance to a team of consultants to deliver cost consulting services efficiently. This includes client delivery, revenue management, business development, offering technical expertise, and leading the consultant team.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform Quantity Surveying / Cost Planning activities on Construction Projects across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northern Territories, including periodic support to projects in other areas of Canada and US.
Review and interpretation of design documents to measure and quantify specific building elements, and application of appropriate pricing to generate project cost estimates ranging from conceptual to detailed estimate stages.
Consolidate and perform analysis of project estimates utilizing benchmarking data, including unit rate analysis, unit costs for assets, facilities, buildings, etc.
Direct the distribution of inputs required for the preparation of the estimates, provide advice on project task and ensure receipt of the inputs as per established deadlines.
Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of reports produced by others to ensure the deliverables are of billable quality before issuance to clients.
Provides direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the team, including management of training and development needs to ensure workforce competency. Also ensures Altus policies are understood and consistently applied by the team.
Act as primary contact for all client communications on projects. Maintain ongoing client communication and resolve issues expeditiously.
Accountable for sourcing new clients / business and developing and building long term client relationships to grow revenues through repeat business and referrals.
Preparation of Fee Proposals in response to client requests / Request for Proposals (RFP’s) with an ongoing understanding of current market for Cost Planning services.
Ensure internal billing memos are accurate and issued on a timely basis to support preparation of Invoices to clients, including follow up with clients on overdue invoices.
Key Qualifications :
Post Secondary Technical Diploma; in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying or related fields.
Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) per CIQS, Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) per CIQS, or Member RICS (MRICS).
10+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, construction, or project management or related field, and minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Construction Consulting or related field, with a multi-dimensional understanding of the project management consulting and advisory industry.
Extensive knowledge of the local construction industry (commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, sector projects), public and private owners, general contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, estimating methods of measurement, etc.
Full and deep understanding of Quantity Surveying / Cost Planning services
Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and work ethics
Proven strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong business acumen, with a focus on business development.
