Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role :

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time Associate Director, Collections Operations to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team . The work of an Associate Director, Collections Operations is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.

The Associate Director, Collections Operations oversees the effective operations of the donor centres in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta , providing clear direction and expectations to the centre management team to meet overall regional plans and corporate objectives. This position contributes to the planning, development, implementation, support, and evolution, of the donor centres, while driving continuous improvement of regional operations, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and CBS policies, procedures and practices.

The Associate Director, Collections Operations is responsible to ensure that the regions are appropriately resourced, and organized through plans and structures, and has all required capabilities to deliver upon operational requirements.

  • Utilizing your strong leadership skills, lead and coordinate regional operations, aligning with corporate goals, building stakeholder relationships, and ensuring risk management while empowering team decision-making.
  • Leveraging acontinuous improvement approach, driveoperational excellence, focusing on productivity, donor experience, and employee satisfaction, collaborating with leadership and teams to implement strategic initiatives and ensure consistent, efficient service delivery.
  • Using your exceptional business acumen, contributeto financial planning, resource allocation, and cost management for regional operations, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drawing on your collaborative skills, representregional collection interests in strategic planning and organizational change initiatives, fostering cooperationand effective communication with cross-functional partners.

Desired Education and Skills :

  • Post-secondary level education from a recognized academic institution. Master’s degree in a health-related or business discipline is an asset.
  • A minimum of 7 years of recent related management experience.
  • Experience in a regulated or unionized environment is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret business needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Must be results driven, able to create change and effectively manage and deliver results.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership abilities, combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment, providing the necessary skills to manage effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short timelines.
  • Ability to support a team that is geographically dispersed throughout the region.
