Overview

The Associate Director, Capital Markets will form an important link between origination and Capital Markets funding solutions. Reporting to the Director, Capital Markets your primary responsibility will be to ensure competitive capital is available for deployment in support commercial loan origination by optimizing vary investor programs. To achieve this, you will work closely with our investors, commercial origination teams, commercial servicing, and the program team. Your primary objective is to drive lending volume and profitability through a competitive capital offering and a streamlined process.

The Commercial Capital Markets team has a broad mandate and accordingly, secondary responsibilities may arise from time to time. An example of secondary responsibility is the development of new investor relationships complementary to CMLS’ existing product lines.

About the Role

You will provide timely and proactive support including:

  • Multi-Family Residential Mortgage (MURM) Capital Markets deal communication, acting as the primary lead working with origination teams to navigate capital deployment to secure competitive pricing to win deals
  • Maintaining ongoing interaction with the origination team, including the analysts assigned to underwrite specific transactions, and becoming a key resource regarding the investors the Multi-Family Capital Markets team represents
  • Execute loan sale or mortgage pool sale transactions with investors and related tasks. Ensure accurate and complete documentation and record keeping
  • Managing the concise and efficient reporting of available funding capacity to the origination team, and in parallel ensuring accurate loan pipeline report to investors
  • Investor Management, developing and maintaining strong relationships with investors and stakeholders
  • Support the negotiation of resolution of any issues or conflicts that arise during transaction execution
  • Responsible for service levels to the origination team regarding timing of Capital Markets activities
  • Providing input and completing department projects as assigned, including ad-hoc analytical projects and turn data into clear communication
  • Performing other duties in supporting Capital Markets to achieve its overall targets
  • Stay current on market trends, economic conditions and regulatory changes affecting the commercial and MURM sector
Qualifications

This role is for you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate finance
  • Strong ownership of your work
  • Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Experience in investor relations, structured finance or financial analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of CMHC guidelines, the MURM market and MBS/CMB program
  • Excellent project management and financial modeling skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI or related analytical tools
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Accounting or Business Administration; CFA or a candidacy in CFA program considered an asset
